Couldn’t Sleep

Last night I couldn’t sleep for thinking of you so much
And I thought of your voice and wondered of your touch.
And I sighed with a heart full of love and eyes wide
This night’s gonna be long; I couldn’t sleep if I tried!

But a head full of you is just satisfaction enough
Yet many more nights like this, and school’s gonna be rough.
For I can’t shut these lids without a memory of you
And SNAP they pop open, and I think of it a minute or two.

And I imagine you at home, snug in your bed,
With deep sleep and peace reigning in your head.
And me, over here, watching the clock read ten past two,
And all in my head are thoughts of you, you, You, YOU!!!

Pretty soon it will be time for me to head off to school
And I’ll be floating on love’s wings, a happy little love-fool.
See what you’ve done?! You just would not believe
How truly, madly, deeply, greatly, wonderfully much you mean!

My eyelids are heavy, and young dawn is near
Oh how I wish you were close to me here
But that’s not something I must dwell on; gotta let you go
Don’t worry though; in the morning you’ll be the first thing I know!
